Assumption’s Beginning in the Philippines

On November 13, 1892, four Religious of the Assumption in Barcelona, boarded the steamer Isla de Panay bound for the Philippines.  They represented the first batch of Assumption Sisters who reached the Philippines' shores and opened the first Assumption school: a Superior Normal School for women.

Last November 18, 2023, over 130 years from that significant event in the Assumption-Philippines' history, a group of 30 teachers and team leaders from Assumption Antipolo and Assumption San Lorenzo, made their way to Intramuros and then Pedro Gil St. in Manila with one objective: to follow the footsteps of the first Assumption Sisters in Asia.   (The first time this was done was in 2018.)

Organized by the Marie Eugenie Institute (MEI) under the guidance of Sr Regina Victoria, ra, take a moment to watch the video of the teachers’ pilgrimage.
